Headaches & Migraines
There are many different causes and types of headaches with a detailed list of types of headaches found at the International Headache Society Classification. Regardless of the cause, if you have a headache, you want it gone.
A study of 127 migraine sufferers in Australia found that chiropractic treatment resulted in fewer migraine attacks, with chiropractic patients needing less medication. Researchers determined that chiropractic care helped to reduce the body’s reaction to stress, which was often the cause of a persons migraine.
When comparing chiropractic therapy to medical treatment, a randomized controlled trial of 150 tension-type headache sufferers found that spinal manipulative treatment for tension-type headaches by chiropractors produced far few side-effects than standard medical treatment. While both treatments were effective, only the chiropractic patients continued to report fewer headaches after treatment had ended.
Tension Headache
Chiropractic care may help prevent or resolve unnecessary muscle tension in the neck and head which cause this headache.
Migraine Headache
After examination of the head and neck, a chiropractor can rule out the likelihood of a sinister cause for your migraine.
Cervicogenic Headache
Headaches originating from the neck often respond well to chiropractic care which aims to restore normal joint motion.
Cluster Headache
Immediate and severe with no known cure, a chiropractor will aim to reduce the severity and frequency of future episodes.
Sinus Headache
Through sinus massage, chiropractic can relieve pain and pressure around the eyes, aiming to reduce sinus congestion.
Rebound Headache
Headaches which result from an over-use of pain medications. A chiropractor will aim to break the cycle by identifying the cause.
